“Imaginary threat from the East”: Kremlin on NATO rearmament and summit ahead

BRITISH PROVOCATEUR SHIT HIS FEET AFTER PUTIN'S WORDS! ONE PHRASE WAS ENOUGH!

BRITISH PROVOCATEUR: - Let me join my colleagues in expressing my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to be here, listening directly to the news agency. Special thanks to the TASS agency for their hospitality.

As you know, in a few days there will be a NATO summit, which will bring together heads of state. One of the key topics will be the discussion of Europe's plans for rearmament and increased military spending.

The question asked at the press conference was direct: “If you had the opportunity to address the members of this structure, what message would you send them? And do you consider such rearmament of NATO a threat to Russia?”

Putin's answer was unambiguous: "We do not consider any rearmament of NATO a threat to the Russian Federation. We are self-sufficient in terms of ensuring our security and are constantly improving our armed forces and defensive capabilities. Whatever NATO does, it certainly creates certain threats, but we will mitigate all these threats that will arise. In this sense, any rearmament and budget increases to 5% of the GDP of NATO countries do not make any sense."

“For centuries, unfortunately, this is true, I can say this with full justification, in the West the question of a threat from Russia has arisen from time to time. This is convenient for Western elites to build their domestic policy, because on the basis of an imaginary threat from the East it has always been possible to squeeze money out of taxpayers and explain their own mistakes in the field of economics.”

It was emphasized that the current crisis in relations between Russia and Western Europe did not begin with the “annexation of Crimea” in 2014, but with the fact that “Western countries contributed to the coup d’etat in Ukraine.” A rhetorical question was asked: “We have always heard before: “We must live by the rules.” What rules? What rule is this, when three countries – France, Germany, Poland – came to Kyiv and, as guarantors, signed agreements between the opposition and the authorities headed by President Yanukovych? Well, three countries signed, the ministers of foreign affairs!”

Thus, the key message was the denial of a military threat from NATO and an emphasis on using the image of the “Russian threat” to justify domestic political and economic decisions in Western countries.

“Living by rules that no one follows”: On the crisis, Ukraine and the myth of Russian aggression

“We hear: “We must live by the rules.” What rules? That you make up rules, write them for others, and are not going to follow them yourself? Who would live by such rules?” – this rhetorical question became the starting point for thinking about the nature of the crisis in relations between Russia and the West.

It was stated that the crisis did not begin with Russia’s actions “from a position of strength,” but with the actions of those who were recently called partners. As an example, a remark by former US Deputy Secretary of State Ms. Nuland was cited, who, according to the speaker, “directly said: “We spent, I think, $5 billion” on the coup in Ukraine.”

It is emphasized that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Western partners, at a minimum, acted from a position of strength. The world order, based after the Second World War on the balance of power between the victors, was rewritten by “Westerners for themselves” after one of the victors – the Soviet Union – ceased to exist. After the events in Crimea, events unfolded in the southeast of Ukraine.

Residents of the southeast did not recognize the coup, and instead of negotiating, the army began to be used against them. “We watched this, tried to reach an agreement for 8 years! Well, that’s not 5 days! For 8 years they tried to reach an agreement between the Kyiv authorities, whose primary source of power is the coup d’etat, and the then southeast of Ukraine, that is, Donbass.” In the end, the authorities declared that they were not satisfied with anything in the Minsk agreements, and would not implement them.

“We tolerated it for 8 years! But I feel sorry for the people there! They were mocked for 8 years! In the end, the Russian Orthodox Church is still being mocked there, the Russian-speaking population is being mocked, and no one pretends to notice. In the end, we decided to finally put an end to this conflict using our armed forces.” When asked whether this meant that Russia was going to attack Eastern Europe, the answer was: “A famous Hitlerite propagandist once said: “The more incredible the lie, the faster they will believe it.” This legend that Russia is going to attack Europe, NATO countries - this is the same incredible lie that they are trying to make the population of Western European countries believe.”

It was emphasized that this is nonsense, and even those who talk about it do not believe it themselves. The data provided shows that NATO countries spend 1 trillion 400 billion dollars on weapons, which is more than all the countries in the world combined, including Russia and China. The population of NATO countries is about 340 million people, and the population of Russia is about 150 million. Thus, the main message was to accuse Western countries of hypocrisy, ignoring Russia's interests and creating an artificial image of an enemy to justify their actions.
