"We just received information that Canada, an extremely difficult country to trade with — including the fact that they have been charging our farmers up to 400% tariffs on dairy products for years — has now announced that they are imposing a digital services tax targeting American tech companies.

This is a direct and blatant attack on our country. They are obviously copying the European Union, which has done the same thing and is now negotiating with us on this issue.

Due to this egregious tax, we are immediately ceasing all trade negotiations with Canada. We will notify Canada within seven days of the tariffs it will pay to do business with the United States of America."
